Most cases are of hyperlipidemias in developed countries. Dyslipidemia increases the chance of clogged arteries (atherosclerosis) and heart attacks, stroke or other circulatory disorders, especially in smokers.Currently available treatment of hypolipidemic drugs have been known to be associated with multiple side effects. Most commonly advised drugs that are statins have shown side effects when taken for longer period of time. Also these can‟t be advised in liver diseases.
