Social drinkers complain of various discomforting conditions related to a hangover on the day after drinking alcohol. Around 75% of people who drank alcohol experienced a hangover once or more. The socioeconomic impact of a hangover is also prominent, because hangover results in a decrease in work productivity and possesses substantial economic and health consequences. Despite its long history, however, hangover has received relatively scant formal attention from researchers. NE-AB01 is a polyherbal drink especially developed with the ingredients having potential to manage the hangover symptoms. A randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, comparative, interventional clinical study was conducted to validate clinical efficacy and safety of NE-AB01 in male social drinkers. AEA01 significantly reduced levels of Blood aldehyde, blood alcohol and increased levels of ALDH when compared to placebo. NE-AB01 is capable of preventing alcohol induced hangover effect like headache, nausea, vomiting and disorientation etc. in acute and chronic alcohol drinkers ―NEA01‖ is safe and effective health drink for the management of hangover after alcohol consumption in social drinkers. The product NE-A01 holds promising potential as a hepatoprotective in liver damage. The future scope of the study is to evaluate long term study as a therapeutic intervention in deranged LFT with alcohol induced liver damage.
