Craniofacial growth of an individual includes complex interaction of hormones, environment (external factor) and the genes (internal factors) in regulating the growth as well as the bone metabolism. Growth hormone plays a pivotal role in somatic development as well as craniofacial growth. Being an anabolic hormone, it regulates bone homeostasis, bone mass and determines the longitudinal bone growth throughout the individual’s life. In this paper, the influence of growth hormone on growth of craniofacial structures with emphasis on orthodontic perspective is highlighted.
