TO EVALUATE THE PARAMETERS OF CONTROLLED RELEASE NITROGLYCERIN TABLET

ABSTRACT
Objective: Controlled release tablet is also known as modified-release dosage form which has a mechanism that delivers a drug with a delay after its administration or for a prolonged period of time. Extended-release dosage consists of sustained release and controlled-release dosage. SR maintains drug release over a sustained period but not at a constant rate. CR maintains drug release over a sustained period at a nearly constant rate. The drug Nitroglycerin, also known as glyceryl trinitrate (GTN), is a medication used for heart failure, high blood pressure, and to treat and prevent chest pain. It is taken by mouth, under the tongue, applied to the skin, or by injection into a vein. Nitroglycerin is used for the treatment of angina, acute myocardial infarction, severe hypertension, and acute coronary artery spasms. Nitroglycerin present in different dosage forms in market Nitroglycerin sublingual tablet, nitroglycerin controlled release tablet, CR capsules, IV, sprays ointments & patches etc.
