ABSTRACT
Introduction: Ovarian tumor varies widely in frequency among different geographic groups. It’s the second common cancer in females and the most frequent cause of death in females with gynecological malignancies. The risk of ovarian tumor increases fourth fold in women with an affected first degree relative. Incidence of ovarian tumor increases with increasing age. Some molecular and histological evidence suggests that mucinous epithelial ovarian cancers develop via a sequence from benign tumor through borderline tumor to invasive cancer. Aims and Objectives: To study the spectrum of ovarian tumors. Study Design: Retrospective study was done. Materials And Methods: Retrospective study was done on 288 cases of ovarian tumors for a period of 15 years (January 2000- December 2014) at Tertary Care Hospital Review of all the slides was done by pathologist. Results: Sample size=288 with ovarian tumors, Over a period of 15 years. Surface epithelial tumors emerged as the commonest variety accounting for 80%, followed by Germ cell tumors 15.5%, Sex – cord stromal tumors 9.5%. Conclusion: Among epithelial tumors, Serous cystadenoma is the most common to present. Among Sex cord stromal tumor, Granulosa cell tumor. Among Germ cell tumor, Teratomas are the commonest.
Keywords: Epithelial tumors, Granulosa cell tumor, Germ cell tumor.
