ANALYTICAL EVALUATION OF PR/HC/1718/001 BY USING SIMULTANEOUS HPLC-PDA METHOD OF GUGGULSTERONE E, GUGGULSTERONE Z, 11-KETO-?-BOSWELLIC ACID, 3- ACETYL 11-KETO-?-BOSWELLIC ACID ALONG WITH UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRY

ABSTRACT
Simple, accurate, precise, sensitive and validated HPLC-PDA method was developed for simultaneous estimation of Guggulsterone E (GGE), Guggulsterone Z (GGZ), 11-keto-β-boswellic acid (KBBA), 3- Acetyl 11-keto-β-boswellic acid (AKBBA), polyherbal formulation. The gradient reverse phase HPLC method was performed on Zorbax C18 column (250 × 4.6 mm id), using a mobile phase consisting of phosphoric acid (pH 2.0) and acetonitrile in solvent gradient elution for 60 minutes at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Determination of all the compounds were carried out using a photodiode array detector at 250 nm. The engagement of diode array detector allowed selectivity confirmation by peak purity evaluation. The method was validated according to International Conference on Harmonization guidelines. No chromatographic interference from excipients and other ingredients were observed and hence this method was applicable for simultaneous quantification of GGE, GGZ, KBBA and AKBBA.
