FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL TABLET CONTAINING CURCULIGO CAPITULATA FOR HEPATOPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY

ABSTRACT

Because of its many pharmacological characteristics, Curculigo capitulata is a medicinal plant that is frequently employed in traditional medicine. The goal of the current investigation was to assess Curculigo capitulata extract's hepatoprotective and antioxidant properties. DPPH and nitric oxide radical scavenging assays were used to evaluate the extract's antioxidant properties at various doses. The extract showed strong antioxidant capacity and concentration-dependent free radical scavenging activity. Its biological action could be attributed to the presence of phytochemical components like flavonoids and phenolics. The extract's antioxidant qualities point to a potential function in shielding liver cells from oxidative stress and damage. Overall, the results show that Curculigo capitulata may have hepatoprotective properties and is a promising natural source of antioxidants. Its therapeutic efficacy and mechanism of action need to be confirmed by more experimental and clinical research.
