ABSTRACT
Diabetes is now one of the main chronic diseases in the world and represents a major public health challenge. Its management relies not only on pharmacological treatments but also on the active involvement of the patient in the daily management of their disease. In this context, patient therapeutic education (PTE) appears as an essential strategy aimed at improving the knowledge, skills, and autonomy of diabetic patients in order to optimize glycemic control and prevent complications. Therapeutic education notably allows for improved therapeutic adherence, the adoption of health-promoting behaviors, and the strengthening of collaboration between healthcare professionals and patients. In this arrangement, the pharmacist occupies a central place. Thanks to their proximity, availability, and deep knowledge of treatments, they become an indispensable player in supporting diabetic patients. Their interventions, whether it is explaining therapeutic strategies, preventing adverse effects, teaching injection techniques, promoting adherence, or using appropriate educational tools, enhance the effectiveness of therapeutic education. Furthermore, their role in the early detection of complications, patient guidance, and interprofessional coordination makes them an essential link in the care pathway.
