ABSTRACT
Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, views diabetes (known as Prameha or Madhumeha) as a disorder
of Kapha and Vata doshas, often linked t o poor digestion (Agni), toxin accumulation (Ama), and lifestyle
imbalances. Traditional management emphasizes holistic interventions: herbal formulations, detoxification
(Panchakarma), diet (Pathya), exercise, and yoga. Recent research has focused on inte grating these with modern
diagnostics like HbA1c and clinical trials, showing promising results in glycemic control, insulin sensitivity, and
complication prevention. While evidence is growing, larger RCTs are needed for stronger validation.
