ABSTRACT
Prameha in Ayurveda can be correlated with Diabetes Mellitus (DM). DM is a metabolic disorder characterized by high blood glucose level & associated with other manifestations. ‘Diabetes’ means ‘polyuria’ and ‘mellitus’ means ‘honey’. In Ayurveda, it is a tridosha vyadhi but mainly Kapha Pradhan & meda, mansa, kleda, rakta, vasa, majja, lasika, shukra, rasa & ojas are the dushyas. Here is a single case study demonstrating the role of Ayurveda in management of DM type I. Good result was observed on reducing the above symptoms by the treatment regimen; insulin dose was reduced from 10 units ----8 units to now only to 5 units before lunch & HbA1c level was 10.5% (3/7/2024), which was reduced by 9.5% (12/12/2024) after 5 months of treatment.
