PHARMACOGNOSTICAL, PHYTOCHEMICAL AND ANTFUNGAL ACTIVITY OF ETHANOLIC EXTRACT OF ABROMA AUGUSTA LEAVES
Shalini Patel* and Praveen Kumar
ABSTRACT
This study evaluates the physicochemical parameters of Abroma augusta leaves to assess their quality and purity. Results indicate a total ash content of 7.45%, reflecting significant inorganic mineral presence, while low water-soluble and acid-insoluble ash values suggest minimal contamination. Extractive values in ethanol and water demonstrate the presence of polar and semi-polar phytochemicals, complemented by notable amounts of non-volatile compounds. The low moisture content ensures sample stability. Additionally, the crude fiber content highlights the plant's fibrous nature, which is beneficial for medicinal uses. Foaming and swelling indices reveal limited saponins and good water absorption, respectively. Collectively, these findings provide essential baseline data supporting the standardization and therapeutic application of Abroma augusta.
